PERKASIE – Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) will host the Upper Bucks County Career and Technical Education Expo on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Upper Bucks County Technical School, 3115 Ridge Road in Perkasie. A sensory-friendly hour will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to provide a quieter, less stimulating environment for attendees who may benefit from it.
The event provides students, families and community members the opportunity to explore career pathways, learn about educational opportunities and connect with organizations representing a variety of industries.
Those interested in attending can register for the expo here.
Coleman is partnering with Upper Bucks County Technical School, the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce, and Reps. Shelby Labs (R-143) and Craig Staats (R-145) to bring the expo to the community.
“Students should have the opportunity to explore the many career paths available and learn about the education and training needed to succeed,” Coleman said. “This expo will connect students and families with valuable resources and help them discover opportunities they may not have considered. I’m grateful to our community partners for helping make this event possible.”
“The Career and Technical Expo highlights the value of introducing students to skilled trades education as early as ninth grade,” said Lisa Walck, assistant director of Upper Bucks County Technical School. “Through partnerships between education, industry and Sen. Coleman’s office, we can strengthen our workforce pipeline and prepare the next generation of skilled professionals to meet the needs of our communities.”
“Career and technical education equips students with real-world skills that lead to meaningful careers and strong communities,” Labs said. “I am proud to partner with Sen. Coleman and Rep. Staats again this year to bring employers, educators and families together in one place, and to connect our students with local businesses and career fields.”
“I am excited to take part in this expo that will highlight the educational opportunities we are fortunate to have here in Bucks County,” Staats said. “Career and technical education gives students the knowledge, hands-on experience and practical skills they need to pursue rewarding careers and secure jobs that provide family-sustaining wages. The Career and Technical Education Expo is an excellent opportunity for students and families to explore these pathways and see firsthand that there are many ways to build a successful future.”
By bringing together schools, businesses and community organizations, the event will help attendees better understand the many pathways available to pursue meaningful and rewarding careers.
