Coleman to Host June 10 Data Center Telephone Town Hall

Data Centers A Community Discussion June 10 6 p.m.

ALLENTOWN — Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) announced he will host a telephone town hall on Wednesday, June 10, at 6 p.m., for district residents to participate in a discussion about data centers and efforts to combat their spread.

“My constituents in Lehigh and Bucks counties don’t want data centers, and neither do I. I’ve engaged in local efforts to stop the development of hyperscale data centers in the Lehigh Valley,” Coleman said. “This call will include updates on the key township decisions I am following and legislation I have introduced. I appreciate these forums with my constituents to exchange information, hear their perspectives and answer questions.”

Coleman also proposed the following data center-focused bill package:

Senate Bill 1344 to repeal the sales tax exemption on data center equipment enacted in 2021 to incentivize data center development.

Senate Bill 1345 giving municipalities the option of placing an 18-month moratorium on unapproved and any new data center applications so they can revise their zoning ordinances and establish policies addressing power supply, water consumption, noise and setbacks which protect the community’s interest.

Registration for this event is required and can be done by clicking here.

At the time of the event, those who registered will receive a telephone call inviting them to participate. Participants just need to stay on the line and they will be connected to the call. There is also an option to choose to audio stream the event live via smartphone or PC.

Those who register within six hours of this event may not be added to the call list until the next scheduled event.
