HARRISBURG – Sens. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) and Sen. Nick Miller (D-14) today announced that the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority was awarded a $1.3 million state grant for the construction of a new parking garage connected to the Lehigh Valley International Airport. The funding was administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
“The Lehigh Valley International Airport is a major gateway to Pennsylvania, and the new parking garage is one more way the airport is preparing for continued growth,” said Coleman. “With more people visiting our commonwealth every year, this funding helps ensure the airport can meet that demand.”
“Today’s regional announcement invests more than one million dollars in a new parking garage directly connected to Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE),” said Senator Nick Miller. “The airport has seen record-breaking numbers of passengers in the past two years, and this project will expand capacity, improve convenience for travelers, and ensure ABE is well-positioned to meet growing demand into the future.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund is overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
