Coleman, Mako Announce More Than $125,000 in State Grants for Lehigh County Improvement Projects

HARRISBURG – Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) and Rep. Zachary Mako (R-183) announced today two Lehigh County projects will benefit from more than $125,000 in Sewage Facilities Program and Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide funding which was administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“It’s important for our municipalities to have the resources that they need to serve our communities.  This funding helps make that possible,” Coleman said. “Being able to take another step forward in completing these priorities is a win for North Whitehall and Lowhill townships.”

“I’m pleased to partner with Sen. Coleman on these two worthwhile projects,” Mako said. “These funds will help replace vital equipment and allow for an updated sewage plan in order to better serve our communities. I am happy to help pursue this funding, as it would have been challenging to move forward without it.”

Sewage Facilities Program Funding

Lowhill Township received $52,529 to revise its Act 537 Official Sewage Plan.

LSA Statewide Funding

North Whitehall Township on behalf of the Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services (EMS) received $73,221 to replace their EMS’s generator and computer equipment.

Sewage Facilities Program funding comes from the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund and is awarded to statewide initiatives for complying with the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act.

LSA funding is generated by the PA Horse Development and Gaming Act which distributes gaming revenue and support projects of public interest in the commonwealth.

The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
