Coleman Announces Bucks County Equine Farm to be Preserved

HARRISBURG – Kelsey Beers’ 17-acre equine farm in Bedminster Township, Bucks County will be preserved, protecting it from future residential or commercial development, according to Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16).

The decision was made by the State Agriculture Land Preservation board on Thursday. It was part of a vote to preserve 1,837 acres on 19 farms in 16 counties.

“Agriculture is a top industry in our state, giving families access to fresh, local foods and benefitting our economy. Because of programs like this, agriculture will continue to be a positive force,” Coleman said.

Pennsylvania leads the nation in the number of farms and acres permanently preserved for agricultural production. With the farmland that was preserved this week, the state’s Farmland Preservation Program includes 6,500 farms and 648,692 acres across the commonwealth.

The program guarantees a future food supply and contributes to a healthier economy.
