Coleman Applauds Lehigh County Voter Registration Office for Thwarting Fraudulent Registration Scheme

HARRISBURG – Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) released the following statement after the announcement that fraudulent voter registration forms may have been submitted in Lehigh County:

“Yesterday, I was notified by constituents that roughly 1,800 voter registration forms were dropped off in a white box at the Lehigh County Voter Registration Office on the Oct. 21 voter registration deadline. Today, I met with the Lehigh County Voter Registration Office and district attorney and learned that a large portion of the applications were rejected as potentially fraudulent.

“It’s our understanding that the applications were submitted by the same group that is suspected of submitting fraudulent applications elsewhere in the commonwealth. I commend the voter registration staff for their hard work, diligence in reviewing applications and awareness that caught these invalid applications. The staff members’ swift referral to the district attorney’s office will ensure that voters are being protected.”
