HARRISBURG – Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-16) today announced $5.7 million in state funding has been awarded for a North Penn Water Authority water main project to connect the Salford Township and Sellersville systems.
“The commonwealth’s ability to provide low-interest loans for local infrastructure projects can help improve our communities while saving taxpayers money,” Coleman said. “By providing these important dollars, the state is acting as a financial partner and enabling this local authority to provide an essential service for community residents.”
North Penn Water Authority purchased the Sellersville water system and relies on interconnections with Hilltown Water and Sewer Authority and Telford Water Authority to serve the area. The system is inefficient and inadequate, leading to substandard water pressure.
The West Rockhill water transmission main project in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County, will extend the North Penn Water Authority transmission main from its Salford Township system and connect to its Sellersville system, providing a direct seamless connection and increasing reliability.
The project is estimated to cost $5.7 million, which the state is providing in the form of a low-interest, 20-year loan. The interest rate for the loan for the first five years will be 1.743%, increasing to 2.179% in year six until the loan is paid in full.
The project is anticipated to start in September and be completed at the end of March 2025.
Funding for the project is being provided through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), an independent state agency that provides financial assistance for sewer, stormwater and drinking water projects in communities across the commonwealth.
